Professional Probation Services Data Breach?
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of reports that Professional Probation Services may have publicly exposed probationers' personal information.
On November 4, 2024, an independent cybersecurity researcher reported that he had discovered several exposed databases and an archived file belonging to Professional Probation Services, which provides a variety of services to the court system and probationers.
The databases and archive, which the researcher said were publicly accessible due to a misconfiguration, reportedly contained personal information belonging to over 480,000 probationers, including nearly 331,000 unique Social Security numbers and nearly 196,000 email addresses. According to the article, the exposed data also included a "user" table and a "Notes" table containing almost 20 million entries.
Another security researcher who reported on the potential Professional Probation Services data breach noted that the company has not responded to his inquiries or emails from the researcher who initially reported the incident, though the data is apparently no longer exposed.
If your believe your information may have been exposed by Professional Probation Services, attorneys want to hear from you. If the company was indeed breached, you may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Professional Probation Services to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
