AVALA Security Incident: What Happened?
AVALA, a physician-led and physician-owned hospital and healthcare provider based in Covington, Louisiana, reported a data breach to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on July 29, 2025. The cybersecurity incident, discovered on May 30, 2025, impacted the hospital’s IT systems and exposed patient information, including names, addresses, dates of birth, medical treatment information, health insurance information, and Social Security numbers.
The AVALA data breach reportedly affected 22,732 people, and the hospital is now sending notice to those impacted.
