LHC Group Data Breach: Lawsuit Investigation

Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the LHC Group data breach.

As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who had their information exposed in the incident, including those who received notice of the LHC Group data breach or otherwise believe they are affected.

LHC Group Security Incident: What Happened?

LHC Group, a nationwide home and hospice care organization, has reported a data breach involving its patients' personal and health-related information.

A notice posted to its website states that on April 7, 2026, LHC, which uses a third-party technology vendor to support functions related to home healthcare services, became aware that an employee may have been the victim of a voice phishing, or vishing, attack.

After the vendor reported the suspicious activity, LHC launched an investigation with third-party forensic specialists, which revealed that a threat actor stole credentials to access a large volume of files on the vendor's platform that contained sensitive patient information, including protected health information, between April 7 and 15.

Exposed information may include names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, health information (such as clinical summaries, treatment plans, diagnosis codes, dates of service and physician or provider information), health insurance information (such as policy names, numbers and plan information), financial information and government identification information (such as Medicare and Medicaid ID numbers).

Following a data review, LHC began confirming the identities of impacted individuals on July 9. A sample notice sent to affected patients of home health or hospice care providers within LHC Group can be seen below.

The LHC Group data breach was also reported to the Texas Attorney General's Office and the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on September 4.
