As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who had their information exposed in the incident, including those who received notice of the BJMPC data breach or otherwise believe they are affected.

BJMPC Security Incident: What Happened?

Brown, Jake & McDaniel, P.C. (BJMPC), a professional tax and accounting firm in Tennessee, has reported a data breach that may have exposed sensitive personal information.

A sample notification letter sent to affected individuals, which can be seen below, states that the company became aware of unusual activity impacting its network environment on January 20, 2026.

Following an investigation with cybersecurity experts, BJMPC determined that an unauthorized actor gained access to its network between January 13 and 21 and may have downloaded files containing certain individuals' personal information. BJMPC completed a review of the affected files to identify potentially affected individuals on August 13, 2026.

According to a September 3 report filed with the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, the Brown, Jake & McDaniel, P.C. data breach affected Social Security numbers, financial accounts and driver's licenses. The aforementioned letter notes that names may have also been exposed.

The BJMPC data breach was also reported to the Texas Attorney General's Office on September 4.
