According to a September 7, 2026 post on dark web security site Ransomware.live, hacker group Metaencryption was behind the suspected attack, which was estimated to have occurred the same day.
HookPhish, another cybersecurity blog, similarly stated that Metaencryption claimed to be responsible for an attack on the medical technology manufacturer.
At the time this post was made, no additional information was available about the scope or nature of the unconfirmed Hologic data breach.
