July 18, 2025 – The Alcohol & Drug Testing Service Data Breach Update: Nearly 750K People Impacted
The Office of the Maine Attorney General is reporting that 748,763 people have been impacted by The Alcohol & Drug Testing Service data breach that occurred in July 2024.
According to a notice submitted this week by Houston, Texas-based The Alcohol & Drug Testing Services (TADTS) to the Maine Attorney General, TADTS became aware of a potential compromise to data maintained in its systems in July 2024 and “immediately took steps to investigate, contain, and remediate the situation.” The company says it reported the intrusion to law enforcement and later confirmed that “some of our data had been downloaded by an unauthorized actor.”
The Alcohol & Drug Testing Service data breach letter states that the impacted data “was provided to us in connection with screening tests you consented to in relation to current or past employment.”
According to its website, TADTS has locations in Houston, Huntsville, Longview, Uvalde, Portland and Brownsville, Texas.
The data breach incident notice on The Alcohol & Drug Testing Service’s website specifies that the compromised data varied by individual but may have included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license/government-issued IDs, passport numbers, bank and financial details, credit/debit card information, usernames and passwords, health insurance details, USCIS or alien registration numbers, and biometric information.

The Alcohol & Drug Testing Service reported a data breach to the Texas Attorney General’s Office on December 17, 2024. According to the report, the Alcohol & Drug Testing Service data breach may have exposed consumers’ names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers and driver’s license numbers.
Formerly known as Texas Alcohol and Drug Testing Service, the company provides alcohol and drug testing services, including for employers regulated by the Department of Transportation.
