Prestige Maintenance Security Incident: What Happened?
Prestige Maintenance USA, a Texas-based commercial cleaning and facilities maintenance company, experienced a significant data breach affecting 65,452 individuals. The incident was first detected on January 17, 2025, when the company identified unusual activity in its cyber environment.
The Prestige Maintenance USA data breach involved unauthorized access to company data, with the ransomware group Medusa reportedly claiming responsibility and demanding $1.2 million in bitcoin to prevent the public release of approximately 300 GB of stolen data.
A report to the Texas Attorney General's Office indicates that names, Social Security numbers and driver's license numbers were exposed in the incident.
After an investigation with independent cybersecurity experts, Prestige Maintenance completed its review on July 14, 2025 and began mailing breach notification letters to affected individuals on July 22, 2025.
