Serviceaide Data Breach: Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Serviceaide data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Serviceaide Security Incident: What Happened?
Serviceaide, Inc., a software company that provides an IT service management platform, has announced a data breach that may have affected the personal information of some individuals receiving medical care from Catholic Health. On November 15, 2024, Serviceaide discovered that certain information within its Catholic Health database was accidentally made publicly accessible. Catholic Health offers services throughout its 75 locations in Western New York.
Actions were taken to secure the database, and an investigation was launched to understand the scope of the Serviceaide data breach. It was found that between September 19, 2024 and November 5, 2024, some patient information was publicly available. While there's no evidence of data being copied, this possibility couldn't be eliminated, prompting the involvement of a data review vendor for analysis.
The review concluded in March 2025, revealing that the exposed data might include names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, medical record numbers, patient account numbers, medical and health details, insurance information, prescription and treatment information, clinical data, provider information, and email or username and password combinations. Serviceaide has since located the addresses of potentially impacted individuals to mail them notice of the incident.
What You Can Do
If your information was exposed in the data breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Serviceaide to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
