Georgia Heritage Security Incident: What Happened?
Georgia Heritage Financial Credit Union has revealed a data breach impacting 43,077 individuals.
A sample notification letter (pictured below) states that a ransomware incident occurred on or around January 25, 2025. Upon detecting unauthorized activity in its network, Georgia Heritage enlisted a cybersecurity firm to investigate and subsequently hired a data mining vendor to analyze the compromised files and pinpoint the affected individuals and data types.
The information potentially exposed in the Georgia Heritage data breach includes names, addresses, birth dates, driver's license details, employment information, financial account data, Foreign National ID Numbers, health information, passport details, personal emails, phone numbers, Social Insurance numbers, and Social Security numbers.
Georgia Heritage operates four branches and two ATM-only locations in and surrounding Savannah, Georgia.
