Springfield Hospital Security Incident: What Happened?
Springfield Hospital has disclosed a data breach involving unauthorized access to an employee's email account. A notice on Springfield Hospital’s website states that the breach was discovered on December 17, 2025. Following the incident, Springfield Hospital secured its email system and launched an investigation to assess the impact of the breach on personal and health information.
By February 10, 2026, it was confirmed that the email account compromised in the Springfield Hospital data breach contained full names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, reasons for visits, treating physician names, and medical record numbers.
Springfield Hospital is notifying affected individuals (see sample notice below).
Serving communities in southern Vermont and southeastern New Hampshire, Springfield Hospital provides emergency services and a range of inpatient and outpatient care. It also collaborates with North Star Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center.
