TruView Data Breach: Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the TruView data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who had their information exposed in the incident, including those who received notice of the TruView data breach or otherwise believe they are affected.
TruView Security Incident: What Happened?
TruView BSI, a nationwide provider of private investigation and background screening services with offices in New York and California, has confirmed a data breach involving unauthorized system access.
According to a letter sent to the Maine Attorney General’s Office, on March 4, 2026, TruView confirmed that cybercriminals may have accessed personal information between July 18, 2024, and August 15, 2024. When TruView became aware of the unauthorized activity, it alerted law enforcement and engaged third-party cybersecurity experts to investigate.
The investigation revealed that information compromised in the TruView data breach could include names, Social Security numbers, and driver's license numbers.
TruView conducted an assessment to identify the affected individuals and began notifying them by written communication on April 8, 2026 (sample notice pictured below).
