Liberty Bankers Life Security Incident: What Happened?
Liberty Bankers Life Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Liberty Bankers Insurance Group, has revealed a data breach involving its third-party administrator, Illumifin.
Illumifin, an insurance technology company, discovered unusual activity on November 4, 2025 and began an investigation with a forensic firm, determining that an unauthorized individual accessed their network and copied certain files. By November 10, 2025, Illumifin found that these files included information received from clients in connection with providing administration services.
A report submitted to the Texas Attorney General’s Office indicates that information compromised in the Liberty Bankers Life data breach includes names, addresses, Social Security numbers, financial information, medical information, and dates of birth.
Liberty Bankers Life was informed of the situation on January 9, 2026 and received a list of affected individuals by February 25, 2026. A sample notification letter is pictured below.
