SAFE Credit Union Security Incident: What Happened?
SAFE Credit Union is notifying individuals impacted by a December 2025 data breach involving members’ personal and financial information.
The California-based credit union, which has locations across the Sacramento area, experienced a data security incident on December 12 of last year that resulted in the unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information.
According to sample notice letters regarding the SAFE Credit Union data breach, individuals’ names, mailing and email addresses, account numbers, balances, Social Security numbers and dates of birth may have been exposed.
What You Can Do After the SAFE Credit Union Data Breach
If you have an account with or received a loan from the credit union and got a notice about the SAFE Credit Union data breach (or otherwise believe your information was affected), you may be able to pursue legal action by signing up for a mass arbitration. This process differs from traditional litigation and is resolved outside of court before a third-party arbitrator instead of a judge or jury.
