First Advantage Security Incident: What Happened?
First Advantage Corporation, a global background screening and identity verification company that conducts over 200 million screens annually, has reported a data breach stemming from a phishing incident.
A sample notification letter (pictured below) states that, on November 17, 2025, the company discovered that an unauthorized third party accessed an employee’s account in the Drug & Occupational Health Screening Unit. An investigation revealed that the third party accessed the account on or around November 13, 2025 and downloaded the contents of the employee’s email inbox. As reported to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, Social Security numbers and driver's license information were compromised in the First Advantage data breach.
