MMMCA Security Incident: What Happened?
The Metropolitan Marine Maintenance Contractors' Association (MMMCA), which represents marine maintenance contractors working in New York and New Jersey harbors, has disclosed a breach impacting 25,528 people.
A sample notification letter (pictured below) states that on April 7, 2026, MMMCA and the Metro-ILA Pension, Fringe Benefit, and Individual Account Retirement Funds detected unauthorized network activity. An investigation revealed that a threat actor accessed the Funds' and MMMCA's environment via one of its virtual private networks.
The information that may have been compromised in the Metropolitan Marine Maintenance Contractors’ Association includes Social Security numbers, dates of birth, phone numbers, and addresses.
Those potentially affected by the MMMCA data breach were notified beginning on May 22, 2026.
