Empower Group Data Breach?: Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of reports of a possible Empower Group data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who believe their information may have been put at risk, including Empower Group employees, investors, and clients.
Reports Emerge of Possible Empower Group Security Breach
As discovered by dark web scraping site Ransomware.Live on April 16, 2026, New York-based Empower Group reportedly suffered a data breach perpetrated by threat actor DragonForce, which claimed to have exfiltrated 316 GB of data.
The following month, on May 26, DataBreach.com published what it claims is an indexed database containing the breached information. The post indicates that the Empower Group data breach may have exposed 6,691,415 rows of Social Security numbers, names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and dates of birth.
Empower Group, which provides alternative financing options to small- and medium-sized businesses, had not confirmed the data breach at the time of this post.
What You Can Do
If you’re affiliated with Empower Group and suspect your information could have been put at risk, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Empower Group to ensure they take proper steps to protect the information they were entrusted with.
