Rocky Mountain Gastroenterology Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the reported Rocky Mountain Gastroenterology data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Rocky Mountain Gastroenterology, which operates healthcare centers in the Denver area, has reportedly experienced a triple cyberattack that appears to have been carried out by three cybercriminal groups.
According to a report from SuspectFile.com, ransomware groups Meow Leaks, RansomHub and Trinity each claimed on their respective blogs that they had exfiltrated data from Rocky Mountain Gastroenterology's IT systems, some of which has since been leaked on the dark web or posted for sale.
SuspectFile wrote that one of the leaked files contained patient information that appears to have been from 2015 to 2019. The file also reportedly included referring physicians' names and the names and Social Security numbers of Rocky Mountain Gastroenterology providers.
In November 2024, Rocky Mountain Gastroenterology posted a data breach notice on its website indicating that patients' names, dates of birth, addresses, medical record numbers, patient account numbers, Social Security numbers, health insurance information, and diagnosis and treatment information may have been exposed.
A report to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services indicates that 366,491 people were affected by the Rocky Mountain Gastroenterology data breach.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Rocky Mountain Gastroenterology to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
