As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who had their information exposed in the incident, including those who received notice of the Bennett College data breach or otherwise believe they are affected.

Bennett College Security Incident: What Happened?

Bennett College, a historically black women's liberal arts college in North Carolina, has reported a late 2025 data breach involving sensitive information.

According to an August 27, 2026 notice posted to its website, Bennett experienced a network disruption that impacted certain systems on or around November 15, 2025. An investigation into the incident revealed that information stored on the educational institution's network was subject to unauthorized access between October 27 and November 15.

After reviewing the potentially impacted data, Bennett College determined that the breach may have exposed names, Social Security numbers, driver's license and state identification numbers, dates of birth, U.S. alien registration numbers, financial account information, taxpayer ID numbers, passport numbers, digital signatures, medical information and health insurance information. The degree of information impacted varied by individual.

The Bennett College data breach was also reported to the Texas Attorney General's Office on September 1, 2026.
