Pinehurst Radiology Security Incident: What Happened?
On May 22, 2025, North Carolina-based Pinehurst Radiology Associates announced a data breach that might impact the privacy of certain individuals' information. The company first discovered suspicious activity on its network around January 20, 2025.
After identifying the issue, Pinehurst Radiology Associates launched an investigation with help from third-party forensics specialists and initiated a review to determine what information may have been exposed. On April 7, 2025, the review was completed, revealing that unauthorized access might have compromised data such as names, addresses, birthdates, medical diagnoses, treatment information, medical record numbers, health insurance details, Medicare/Medicaid numbers, and, in limited cases, Social Security numbers.
An online notice about the Pinehurst Radiology data breach states that this information was gathered at appointments and/or from other medical service providers. Pinehurst Radiology Associates provides radiology services through its outpatient imaging center and for other medical facilities, including FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, FirstHealth Hoke Campus, Pinehurst Medical Clinic, and Pinehurst Surgical.
What You Can Do
If your information was exposed in the data breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Pinehurst Radiology to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
