Numotion Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Numotion data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Numotion, which makes wheelchairs and other mobility solutions, is notifying individuals about a data breach that may have exposed their personal and/or health information and appears to involve both customers and employees.
The Numotion data breach was reportedly discovered on March 2, 2024, with the company then launching an investigation. It was determined that an unauthorized third party had gained access to company systems between February 29 and March 2, 2024 and potentially accessed and took certain files.
According to a notice on Numotion's website, potentially exposed information related to customers may include names, dates of birth, details of equipment orders, supporting medical documentations, health insurance information and, for some individuals, driver's license or Social Security numbers.
A sample notice submitted to the Montana attorney general's office on April 15, which appears to pertain to workers, states that exposed information for these individuals may include names, dates of birth and employment information.
Comparitech.com reports that ransomware group Black Basta has claimed responsibility for the attack.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Numotion to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
