As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Absolute Dental Security Incident: What Happened?
Absolute Dental, a dental practice with locations throughout Nevada including in Las Vegas and Reno, has reported a data breach that may have compromised sensitive personal information.
On February 26, 2025, the company discovered a potential problem within its IT systems. With the help of third-party investigators, it was determined that an unauthorized entity accessed some systems between February 19 and March 5, 2025. The data breach reportedly stemmed from inadvertently executing a malicious version of a legitimate software tool through an account linked to Absolute Dental’s third-party managed services provider.
After concluding its investigation on July 28, 2025, the company found that information such as names, contact details, birthdates, Social Security numbers, driver's license and government ID information, and health details could have been impacted in the Absolute Dental data breach. This may include health history, treatments, diagnosis information, insurance details, and patient identification numbers. A few individuals might have also had their financial account or payment card details affected.
Absolute Dental first reported the data breach to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on May 2, 2025, and is now notifying those potentially impacted.
