Issue #404

Did Big Tech Companies Know About Your Last Trip?

In this issue, we’re taking a look at how California and Florida consumers who used certain apps or websites to book their last vacation may have had their privacy rights violated. More on that below.

Plus, a new lawsuit has been filed over a popular summer beverage that may be sweeter than you think. We’ll round things out with two cases now on file over potentially defective products—one used by kids, the other by handy adults.

As always, the latest class action settlements you may be able to claim can be found at the bottom of this issue. Keep reading for the details.

Utilitech Standing Lights Pose Burn Risk, Lawsuit Claims

A proposed class action lawsuit claims that Lowe’s has failed to properly disclose that its Utilitech 7500-Lumens Halogen Plug-In Stand Work Lights can become dangerously hot during ordinary use, posing a risk of serious burns. The suit alleges that the only warnings about the Utilitech work lights are “buried” in the instruction and troubleshooting manual and fail to appropriately convey that the lights and their switches can become hot enough to burn skin on contact.
