MyChart Settlement: $1.7M+ Cone Health Deal Ends Lawsuit Over Alleged Patient Data Tracking

Cone Health has agreed to a more than $1.7 million settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit that alleged the healthcare system unlawfully deployed tracking pixels on its website and MyChart patient portal that transmitted patients’ private information to third parties without consent.

The $1,765,000 Cone Health class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on July 7, 2026. All living individuals who, between September 1, 2016 and November 3, 2022, accessed the MyChart patient portal or completed a submission form on Cone Health’s website are eligible to participate in the Cone Health settlement.

Court documents state that 375,027 people are covered by the deal.

Cone Health settlement class members who submit a timely, valid claim form can receive a pro rata cash payment, with no proof required.

The final amount of each class member’s cash payment will be determined based on the total number of valid claims filed, among other factors.

To file a Cone Health MyChart settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the login ID and PIN found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF claim form to print, complete, and return by mail to the settlement administrator.

All Cone Health settlement claim forms must be submitted online or postmarked by October 5, 2026.

The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Cone Health settlement following a hearing on November 5, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.

The Cone Health class action lawsuit alleged that the North Carolina-based healthcare provider unlawfully collected and transmitted users’ private health information to third parties, including Meta and Google, without consent via hidden tracking pixels on its website and in its MyChart patient portal.
