Texas Centers for Infectious Disease Associates Security Incident: What Happened?
Texas Centers for Infectious Disease Associates (TCIDA), a facility with clinical practitioners and researchers serving Fort Worth and surrounding areas, has revealed a data breach potentially affecting the personal and protected health information of patients. Texas Centers for Infectious Disease Associates discovered suspicious network activity on July 19, 2024, which was traced back to a former third-party billing vendor. With help from cybersecurity experts, Texas Centers for Infectious Disease Associates secured its network and determined that unauthorized actors may have accessed sensitive data.
The TCIDA data breach may have exposed names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, medical record numbers, Medicare/Medicaid numbers, health insurance numbers and medical/treatment information. Notifications were sent to those affected starting in late June 2025, and a report submitted to the Maine Attorney General's Office states that 19,776 individuals are impacted.
