NASCAR Data Breach: Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the NASCAR data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
NASCAR Security Incident: What Happened?
The data breach at the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, LLC (NASCAR) occurred between March 31 and April 3, 2025, when an unauthorized actor gained access to certain network files.
The NASCAR data breach was discovered on April 3, 2025; however, NASCAR did not confirm that sensitive personal information had been compromised until June 24, 2025. According to submissions to state attorneys general, the attack affected sensitive personal information, including names and Social Security numbers.
NASCAR began sending breach notification letters to the individuals affected on July 24, 2025. The Medusa ransomware group had previously claimed responsibility for the attack in April 2025, demanding a ransom and threatening to publish the stolen data on their dark web leak site.
What You Can Do After the NASCAR Data Breach
If your information was exposed in the data breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force NASCAR to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
