Michigan Masonic Home Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of two Michigan Masonic Home data breaches.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Michigan Masonic Home, which operates a retirement community in Alma, Michigan, recently reported two data breaches and is notifying affected individuals. According to a sample notice, the organization identified suspicious activity concerning an employee’s email account and, in response, secured the account and initiated an investigation to assess the nature and extent of the issue. The investigation revealed that unauthorized access occurred from May 28 to July 18, 2024.
The review also indicated that the impacted email account contained information such as names, Social Security numbers, credit card numbers, dates of birth, financial account details, government-issued identification numbers and driver’s license information. The Michigan Masonic Home data breach may have also affected medical information, including lab results, medical history, treatment details, patient numbers, medical record numbers, prescription and diagnosis information, and medical insurance details.
A second data breach notice posted on Michigan Masonic Home's website indicates that the organization recently identified suspicious activity involving two employee email accounts. An investigation determined that there was unauthorized access to one of the accounts between July 30 and September 12, 2024, and to the second account between September 5 and September 11, 2024. The second data breach potentially exposed names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth and medical information, including medical record numbers, diagnosis information, treatment details and physician information. Michigan Masonic Home stated that it would begin notifying affected individuals after completing its review.
If your information was exposed in one of the breaches, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Michigan Masonic Home to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
