EP Wealth Data Breach: Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the EP Wealth data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who had their information exposed in the incident, including those who received notice of the EP Wealth data breach or otherwise believe they are affected.
EP Wealth Security Incident: What Happened?
EP Wealth Advisors, an SEC-registered investment adviser offering wealth management services across the U.S., has announced a cybersecurity incident. According to a sample notice provided to the California Attorney General's Office (pictured below), on February 2, 2026, the company detected unauthorized network access after an employee's credentials were compromised. EP Wealth involved external cybersecurity experts, halted the intrusion, and alerted law enforcement.
The investigation revealed that the unauthorized party had access for about four hours on February 2 and obtained copies of client data, including from a system used to manage client relationships. The information exposed in the EP Wealth Advisors data breach may include names, addresses, email addresses, dates of birth, tax IDs (Social Security numbers or Employer Identification Numbers), and financial account numbers. In some cases, additional personal details shared with advisors might also have been accessed.
EP Wealth is notifying affected individuals by mail from March 6 to March 10, 2026.
