UFCW Local 342 Security Incident: What Happened?

According to a report submitted to the Maine Attorney General’s Office, United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 342 suffered a data breach in April 2025 that affected 56,615 individuals. Sample notices provided to the Maine Attorney General's Office (pictured below) and the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation (OCABR) state that UFCW secured the network, notified law enforcement, initiated an investigation with external cybersecurity experts, and conducted a data review, which concluded on February 12, 2026. It was determined that unauthorized access occurred between April 25 and April 28, 2025.

According to the Massachusetts OCABR data breach report, the information compromised in the UFCW Local 342 data breach includes Social Security numbers, medical records, financial accounts, and driver's licenses.

This UFCW data breach follows three breaches that have occurred since 2024, including ones impacting Local 7, Local 135, and UFCW's central network.

UFCW Local 342 represents around 9,000 food and commercial workers in Long Island, New York City, Westchester, Sullivan, and Orange Counties, as well as New Jersey.
