Erie Insurance Security Incident: What Happened?
Erie Indemnity Company, the management company for Erie Insurance, recently reported to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it had experienced an "information security event." The company said it detected unusual activity on its network on June 7, 2025 and responded by deploying its incident response protocols, securing its systems, and enlisting the help of law enforcement agencies. Erie Indemnity Company has also engaged third-party cybersecurity experts to conduct a forensic investigation.
On June 8, Erie Insurance posted a notice on its website stating it was experiencing a network outage affecting all systems. The investigation into the potential Erie Insurance data breach remains ongoing, according to a June 14 update.
Erie Insurance, based in Erie, Pennsylvania, provides auto, home, business and life insurance policies across 12 states and the District of Columbia.
