Aflac Data Breach: Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Aflac data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Aflac Security Incident: What Happened?
Aflac Incorporated, the largest provider of supplemental health insurance products in the United States, recently reported a potential data breach after discovering suspicious activity on its network on June 12, 2025. The company acted to contain the incident, and no ransomware was found to be involved in the event. Preliminary findings from the ongoing investigation indicate that the attacker used social engineering tactics to access Aflac’s network.
The insurer stated in a Form 8-K submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission that it would be unable to determine the total number of people impacted by the Aflac data breach until the review of affected files is completed.
In response to the incident, Aflac brought in cybersecurity experts to assist with the investigation and help determine the extent of the breach. While a review of the affected files is ongoing, the Aflac data breach may have exposed claims data, health information, Social Security numbers, and other personal details related to customers, beneficiaries, employees, agents, and others associated with its U.S. business.
