A more than $580,000 settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit that alleged the Museum of Illusions New York failed to properly disclose ticket processing fees to consumers on its purchasing website.

The $580,721 Museum of Illusions New York class action settlement received preliminary court approval on June 18, 2025 and covers anyone who paid a processing fee to buy tickets online through the Museum of Illusions New York website between August 29, 2022 and April 30, 2024.

Museum of Illusions settlement class members who submit a timely, valid claim form will be eligible to receive a pro-rata, or equal-share, portion of the $580,721 settlement fund after the payment of legal fees, administrative expenses and lead plaintiff awards.
To submit a claim form online, class members can visit this page of the class action settlement website and log in with the unique notice ID and confirmation code found in their copy of the settlement notice.
Alternatively, a PDF of the claim form is available to print, fill out and mail back to the address listed on the first page of the document.
All Museum of Illusions settlement claim forms must be submitted online or postmarked by January 2, 2026.
The amount each eligible class member might receive from the deal will depend on the total number of valid claims that are filed, the settlement website specifies.
Additionally, the Museum of Illusions New York has agreed to alter the purchase flow on its ticket ordering web page to better comply with the applicable laws and adequately disclose the relevant fees, the settlement site notes.
A hearing is set for November 17, 2025 to determine whether the class action settlement will receive final approval from the court. Payments will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval is granted and any appeals have been resolved.
The Museum of Illusions New York class action lawsuit alleged that the museum’s ticket website did not adequately disclose a ticket processing fee to consumers during the online purchasing process, in violation of the New York Arts and Cultural Affairs Law.
