Zumpano Patricios Security Incident: What Happened?
Zumpano Patricios, P.A. (ZP Law) recently experienced a data breach that may have compromised personal information received by the law firm in providing representation to healthcare providers in disputes with insurance companies. The firm discovered the cyberattack on its IT network on or around May 6, 2025, although the exact timing of the intrusion is unclear. After detecting the data breach, ZP Law took action, including changing passwords and blocking unauthorized access, and engaged technical experts to assess the situation.
The Zumpano Patricios data breach allowed an unauthorized third party to potentially access and exfiltrate some files from the firm's systems. As part of its response, ZP Law conducted a review to identify affected individuals. The data at risk included names, provider information, member ID numbers, health insurer information, and details about dates of service and payments. In some cases, Social Security numbers, clinical coding information, or medical records could have been exposed. The firm is notifying potentially affected individuals through mail or email where available.
A report to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services indicates that 279,275 people may have been impacted by the Zumpano Patricios data breach.
