TAK Broadband Security Incident: What Happened?
TAK Broadband LLC, an end-to-end U.S. fiber broadband network construction contractor operating across 42 states, has announced a data breach that may involve the personal information of certain individuals. On August 11, 2025, TAK identified suspicious activity within its network, affecting specific systems. Following this discovery, the company secured its network and launched an investigation with external experts. It was determined that an unauthorized third party accessed TAK systems from August 2 to August 12, 2025 and extracted certain files.
A review, completed on January 14, 2026 found that affected files contained varying personal information, which could include names, Social Security numbers, state ID/driver's license numbers, passport numbers, biometric data, birth dates, payment card details, financial account information, medical data, and health insurance information. TAK Broadband is taking steps to inform potentially impacted individuals.
According to a report submitted to the Maine Attorney General's Office, the TAK Broadband data breach impacted 20,648 individuals.
