As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who had their information exposed in the incident, including those who received notice of the SunSource data breach or otherwise believe they are affected.
SunSource Security Incident: What Happened?
SunSource Borrower, which services, repairs, fabricates, and distributes industrial equipment across North America, has disclosed a data breach involving unauthorized network access.
A sample notification letter (pictured below) states that, following the discovery of the incident, SunSource commenced an investigation with the assistance of a third-party forensic expert, which determined that an unauthorized third party accessed its network and a portion of its file server between March 31 and April 5, 2026.
By May 4, 2026, the investigation determined whose and what types of information were compromised in the SunSource data breach. A report submitted to the Texas Attorney General’s Office indicates that names, addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license and government-issued ID numbers, financial information, medical information, and health insurance information were affected.
SunSource is notifying those impacted by mail.
