Good Neighbors Credit Union Security Incident: What Happened?
Good Neighbors Federal Credit Union, which has locations in Buffalo and Depew, New York, has announced a data breach involving unauthorized access to its network, initially occurring on December 10, 2024. Upon discovering the breach, Good Neighbors Credit Union launched an investigation with the help of external cybersecurity experts.
By April 4, 2025, the investigation confirmed that a range of personal information, including Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial information, bank account numbers, credit/debit card numbers, medical information and health insurance details, might have been accessed by an unauthorized party.
The Good Neighbors Federal Credit Union data breach reportedly impacted 18,621 individuals, and the credit union began sending notice on May 1, 2025 to those for whom it has contact information.
