Financial Business and Consumer Solutions Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Financial Business and Consumer Solutions data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
In a recent incident, Financial Business and Consumer Solutions, Inc. (FBCS), a third-party debt collection agency, revealed that its systems were breached, leading to unauthorized access to personal information. The breach occurred between February 14 and February 26, 2024, impacting data such as names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and account information. The breach also exposed driver's license numbers or non-driver identification card numbers of individuals, according the Maine attorney general's office.
An investigation conducted by FBCS, with the help of third-party computer forensics specialists, determined that the unauthorized actor had the ability to view or acquire sensitive information on the FBCS network. The FBCS data breach specifically exposed information provided by the agency's clients (for whom it collects debts), potentially putting 1.9 million people at risk.
Starting on April 4, 2024, FBCS began providing notifications to clients, detailing the specific data that was impacted. The company is also providing notice on behalf of its clients to potentially impacted individuals.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Financial Business and Consumer Solutions to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
