As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
AltaMed Security Incident: What Happened?
AltaMed Health Services Corporation is notifying the public about an incident that may have compromised individuals' personal information. The AltaMed Health Services Corporation data breach was detected on August 9, 2024, when suspicious activity was observed on the company's computer systems. An investigation found that an unauthorized person accessed an email account between August 5 and August 9, 2024.
A review, completed on April 16, 2025, involved data security experts to assess the nature and scope of the data breach. The types of information potentially affected include names and various personal details like Social Security numbers, dates of birth, contact information, driver's license numbers, passport numbers, medical information (treatment details, procedure information, medical history, prescriptions, diagnoses, etc.), mother's maiden name, genetic data, signatures, health insurance details and usernames and passwords. AltaMed is sending notification letters to affected individuals for whom it has mailing addresses.
As a provider of health and human services in Southern California, AltaMed offers primary, urgent, and dental care, along with behavioral health and HIV services.
What You Can Do
If your information was exposed in the data breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
