Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies Settlement Ends Class Action Litigation Over 2025 Data Breach

Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies U.S.A. has agreed to a class action settlement to resolve a lawsuit that alleged the biopharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organization failed to protect personal information from a 2025 data breach.

The Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on August 13, 2026. Eligible for the settlement are all United States residents whose private information may have been impacted by the data breach discovered by Fujifilm in September 2025 and who received notice of the incident from Fujifilm.

Fujifilm settlement class members who submit a timely, valid claim form can receive up to $2,500 for documented out-of-pocket losses incurred due to the data breach. This benefit covers losses from identity theft or fraud and costs for credit reports, credit monitoring, freezing/unfreezing credit, long-distance phone charges, mileage, and more.

Class members must submit proof, like emails or receipts, to receive a documented-loss payment.

Should the total amount of all claims for documented losses exceed $175,000, payments to class members will be reduced on a pro rata (proportional) basis.

In lieu of a documented-loss payment, class members can submit a claim form to receive a $50 cash payment, with no proof required.

Finally, all class members can elect on their claim form to receive two years of one-bureau credit monitoring, which includes identity theft insurance.

Class members can enter their login ID and PIN on this page to receive an enrollment reminder email for the credit monitoring services available through the settlement.

To submit a Fujifilm settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the login ID and PIN found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF claim form to print, complete and return by mail to the settlement administrator.

All Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies settlement claim forms must be submitted online or postmarked by November 25, 2026.

The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Fujifilm settlement following a hearing on December 11, 2026. Settlement benefits will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.

The Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies class action lawsuit alleged that the  biopharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organization failed to implement reasonable cybersecurity safeguards to protect current and former employees’ private information from a cybersecurity incident discovered in September 2025.

Court documents state that personal information that may have been compromised in the data incident included current and former employees’ names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license information, passport numbers, retirement account information and medical information.
