Columbus Regional Health has agreed to a settlement to wrap up a class action lawsuit that alleged the healthcare system surreptitiously shared patients’ private information with Meta without consent.

The Columbus Regional Health class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on April 22, 2026. The deal covers all Columbus Regional patients residing in Indiana who logged into a patient portal account between November 1, 2017 and June 30, 2022.
Court documents state that the class action settlement covers 20,763 people.
The court-approved website for the Columbus Regional Health settlement can be found at ColumbusRegionalSettlement.com.
Columbus Regional settlement class members who file a valid, timely claim form can receive a $25.50 cash payment.
Additionally, class members are automatically entitled to enroll in one year of CyEx Privacy Shield, which includes data broker opt-out services and military-grade virtual private network (VPN) encryption for internet access.
To file a Columbus Regional settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and log in using the unique ID and PIN found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF of the claim form to print, fill out, and return by mail to the settlement administrator.
All Columbus Regional Health settlement claim forms must be submitted online or by mail by September 19, 2026.
The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Columbus Regional Health settlement following a hearing on July 22, 2026. Compensation will be distributed to class members only after final approval is granted and any appeals are resolved.
The Columbus Regional Health class action lawsuit alleged that the Indiana-based hospital system failed to obtain patients’ consent before disclosing their personally identifiable and protected health information to third parties, including Meta, by way of embedded tracking pixels on its website.
