Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Settlement Resolves Lawsuit Over 2024 Data Breach

Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) has agreed to a class action settlement to resolve a lawsuit that alleged the private college failed to protect confidential information from a data breach discovered in September 2024.

The Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences class action settlement received preliminary court approval on July 10, 2026. Eligible to participate in the settlement are all United States residents whose private information was potentially impacted because of the data security incident that affected ACPHS’s computer systems between August 31 and September 14, 2024.

Court documents state that approximately 26,411 people received notice of the data breach.

Albany College settlement class members who submit a timely, valid claim form can receive up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses incurred between August 31, 2024 and November 16, 2026 due to the data breach. This benefit covers losses from identity theft or fraud and costs for credit reports, credit monitoring, freezing/unfreezing credit, replacement IDs, postage, and more.

Class members must submit proof, such as bank statements or receipts, to receive a documented-loss payment.

Further, class members can file a claim form to receive compensation for up to four hours of lost time spent responding to the data breach, at a rate of $20 per hour. This benefit covers activities such as changing passwords, investigating suspicious account activity, and researching the data security incident.

In lieu of a documented-loss or lost-time payment, class members can submit a claim form to receive a $25 cash payment, with no proof required.

Lastly, all class members can elect on their claim form to receive two years of CyEx Financial Shield Total, which includes credit monitoring, monitoring for unauthorized or high-risk transactions, and financial fraud insurance.

To submit an Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the login ID and PIN found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF claim form to print, complete and return by mail to the settlement administrator.

All Albany College settlement claim forms must be submitted online or by mail by November 16, 2026.

The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Albany College data breach settlement following a hearing on December 10, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.

The Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences class action lawsuit alleged that the New York-based private college failed to implement reasonable cybersecurity measures to safeguard private information from a data breach between August 31 and September 14, 2024.

Court documents state that confidential information that may have been compromised during the breach included names, Social Security numbers, financial information, birth and marriage certificates, passport numbers, driver’s license numbers, health insurance information, medical information, and/or student information.
