The Differin class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on February 19, 2026 and covers all individuals who, between January 1, 2020 and February 19, 2026, purchased in the United States any of the following Differin-branded products for personal or household use and not for resale:
- Differin Daily Deep Cleanser (5% Benzoyl Peroxide (BPO);
- Differin Acne Spot Treatment (10% BPO); and
- Differin Maximum Strength Acne Foaming Cleanser (10% BPO).

The court-approved website for the Differin benzene contamination settlement can be found at DifferinBPOProductSettlement.com.
According to the website, Differin settlement class members who file a valid, timely claim form are eligible to receive $9 in reimbursement for each covered product purchased.
The settlement agreement explains that there is no limit to the number of products a class member may file a claim for if they can provide proof of purchase; claims filed without proof of purchase will be restricted to a maximum of three products per class member.
The agreement notes that the total number of products claimed will be calculated per household to ensure class members do not receive duplicate compensation for the same product.
Importantly, the agreement outlines that each class member’s payment may be subject to a pro-rated increase or reduction depending on the total number of valid claims filed and the amount remaining in the settlement fund after the payment of attorneys’ fees, settlement administration costs and lead plaintiff service awards.
Class members may receive their settlement payout via check or electronic payment, the agreement notes, and all checks must be cashed within 120 days of issuance before expiration.
To file a Differin settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and answer all required fields with relevant information. Alternatively, class members may download a PDF of the claim form from the site to print, fill out and return by mail to the address of the settlement administrator listed at the bottom of the document.
All Differin benzene settlement claim forms must be submitted online or by mail by May 19, 2026.
The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Differin class action settlement following a hearing on June 30, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals are resolved.
The Differin class action lawsuit alleged that its manufacturer, Galderma Laboratories, failed to warn consumers that some of its Benzoyl Peroxide acne treatments, including the Differin Daily Deep Cleanser (5% BPO), Differin Acne Spot Treatment (10% BPO) and Differin Maximum Strength Acne Foaming Cleanser (10% BPO), were potentially contaminated with benzene, a dangerous carcinogen.
