The approximately $9,400,000 Fandango Media class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on March 20, 2026. The settlement covers:
- -All individuals who are not subject to binding arbitration and who paid a convenience fee to purchase tickets through Fandango to California theaters between June 11, 2020 through and including June 17, 2024 (the “convenience fee class”); and
- -All California and Washington consumers who purchased a Fandango FanClub membership between October 7, 2024 to and through April 16, 2025 (the “FanClub class”).
The court-approved website for the Fandango settlement can be found at FandangoMediaSettlement.com.
According to the agreement, convenience fee class members can either submit a timely, valid claim form to receive a $3.25 cash payment or do nothing to receive a $3.25 voucher good for any purchase of movie tickets through Fandango.com or the Fandango app. Fandango settlement vouchers will expire three years after issuance.
Members of the FanClub settlement class will automatically receive a $7.50 voucher good for any purchase of movie tickets from Fandango.com or the Fandango app, with no expiration date.
If a class member is in both the convenience fee and FanClub settlement classes, they can receive both settlement benefits.
According to the settlement website, the parties estimate that the value of the cash and voucher benefits offered through the deal will total approximately $9,400,000.
To submit a convenience fee-class claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the unique ID and PIN found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF claim form to print, complete and return by mail to the settlement administrator.
All Fandango Media claim forms must be submitted online or postmarked no later than August 17, 2026.
The court will determine whether to grant the Fandango Media settlement final approval following a hearing on August 7, 2026. Compensation and vouchers will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.
The Fandango class action lawsuit claimed that the online ticket seller failed to timely disclose mandatory convenience fees added to movie ticket purchases through Fandango for California theaters, and violated certain laws by offering Fandango FanClub members $10 monthly credits, discounts, or promo codes that expired after 30 days.
