The Dartmouth class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on July 1, 2026. Eligible for the settlement are all living United States residents who were sent notice by Dartmouth that their private information may have been impacted in the data incident.
The plaintiffs’ motion for final approval of the data breach settlement states that the private information of roughly 96,911 people was allegedly accessed in the Dartmouth cyber incident.
The court-approved Dartmouth data breach settlement website can be found at OracleDartmouthDataSettlement.com.
Class members who file a valid, timely claim form can receive up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses stemming from the Dartmouth-Oracle data breach. This benefit covers losses from fraud or falsified tax returns and costs for bank fees, credit reports, credit monitoring, identity theft insurance, freezing/unfreezing credit and more.
Class members must submit proof, such as emails or receipts, to receive a documented-loss payout and cannot be reimbursed for expenses that were already reimbursed through another source, such as the credit monitoring and identity theft protection offered in Dartmouth’s initial data breach notice.
Class members can also file a claim to receive an estimated $75 pro rata cash payment, with no proof required. The final amount of this cash payout may be increased or decreased on a proportional basis, depending on the total number of valid claims filed, among other factors.
Lastly, class members can elect on their claim form to receive two years of one-bureau credit monitoring, which includes dark web monitoring, identity theft insurance, reimbursement for unauthorized transfers and more.
To file a Dartmouth settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the unique ID and PIN found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF claim form to print, complete and return by mail to the settlement administrator.
Dartmouth data breach claim forms must be filed online or by mail by October 21, 2026.
The court will decide whether to grant final approval to the Dartmouth Oracle data breach settlement following a hearing on November 5, 2026. Settlement benefits will be made available only after the deal receives final approval and any appeals are resolved.
The claims against Dartmouth College, which are part of litigation against Oracle and a handful of its customers, centered on a massive “zero-day” data breach involving Oracle’s E-Business Suite application, which was allegedly accessed by the criminal third-party Cl0p ransomware group without authorization in August 2025 and came to impact more than 100 corporate and institutional organizations.
Court documents state that personally identifiable information compromised in the Dartmouth data breach included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers and/or financial account details.
Although Dartmouth has agreed to a class action settlement to resolve the claims against the college over the Oracle E-Business Suite data breach, the litigation will continue against other defendants who have not settled.
