The $500,000 CR&R Incorporated class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on April 9, 2026. The deal covers all living United States residents who were sent notice indicating their private information may have been impacted in the December 2022 CR&R data breach.
Court documents state that approximately 13,014 people were sent notice letters about the data breach.
The court-approved website for the CR&R Incorporated data breach settlement can be found at CRRDataSettlement.com.
CR&R settlement class members who file a valid, timely claim form can receive up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses incurred between December 13, 2022 and August 24, 2026 due to the breach. This benefit covers losses arising from identity theft or fraud and the costs of credit reports, credit monitoring, freezing or unfreezing credit, replacement IDs, and more.
Class members must submit proof, such as receipts or bank statements, to receive this benefit.
In lieu of a documented-loss payout, class members can instead file a claim form to receive an approximately $150 cash payment, with no proof required. The final value of each class member’s cash payout may increase or decrease, depending on the number of claims filed.
Finally, in addition to either monetary relief option, class members can file a claim to receive two years of three-bureau credit monitoring.
To file a CR&R settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and log in using the unique ID and PIN found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF of the claim form to print, fill out, and return by mail to the settlement administrator.
All CR&R settlement claim forms must be submitted online or by mail by August 24, 2026.
The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the CR&R Incorporated settlement following a hearing on September 14, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval is granted and any appeals are resolved.
The CR&R Incorporated class action lawsuit alleged that the California-based waste and recycling collection company failed to implement reasonable cybersecurity safeguards to protect the sensitive information of its customers and employees, which supposedly led to a data breach on or around December 13, 2022.
Per court documents, private information potentially exposed by the breach included names, Social Security numbers, financial account information and health insurance information.
