Americold settlement class members who submit a timely, valid claim form can receive up to $25,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses incurred due to one or both data breaches. This benefit covers losses from identity theft or fraud and costs for credit reports, credit monitoring, fraud resolution services, and more.
Class members must submit proof, such as correspondence or receipts, to receive a documented-loss payment.
In lieu of a documented-loss payment, class members can file a claim form to receive a cash payment, with no proof required.
Class members identified by the settlement administrator as having been notified of both the 2020 and 2023 data breaches can receive an estimated $200, while class members notified of only one of the breaches can receive an estimated $100.
All payments to class members may be adjusted on a pro rata basis, depending on the total number of valid claims filed, among other factors.
Finally, all class members can elect on their claim form to receive three years of credit monitoring, which includes identity theft protection services.
To submit an Americold settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the class member ID found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF claim form to print, complete, and return by mail to the settlement administrator.
All Americold settlement claim forms must be submitted online or postmarked by October 22, 2026.
The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Americold settlement following a hearing on October 6, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.
The Americold class action lawsuit alleged that the Atlanta-based cold storage, warehousing, and logistics company failed to properly safeguard private information pertaining to current and former employees and job applicants from separate data breaches discovered on or around November 16, 2020 and April 26, 2023.
Per court documents, sensitive information that may have been compromised in the data breaches included names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, financial information, driver’s license numbers, government-issued ID numbers, health information, and other personally identifiable information.
