$3M Healthcare Services Group Settlement Resolves Class Action Lawsuit Over September 2024 Data Breach

Healthcare Services Group (HCSG) has agreed to a $3,000,000 settlement to wrap up a class action lawsuit that alleged the dining and housekeeping provider for long-term care facilities failed to protect confidential information in its care prior to a September 2024 data breach.

The $3 million Healthcare Services Group class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on June 3, 2026. The agreement covers all living United States residents who were sent a notice from HCSG regarding potential impact from the data breach or were otherwise determined to have had their private information potentially impacted by the incident.

Healthcare Services Group settlement class members who file a timely, valid claim form can receive up to $5,000 for documented losses incurred due to the data breach. This benefit covers unreimbursed losses from identity theft or fraud and costs for credit monitoring services, bank fees, long-distance phone charges, postage, mileage, and more.

Class members must submit proof, such as bank statements or receipts, to receive a documented-loss payout.

In addition to a documented-loss payment, class members can submit a claim form to receive a pro rata cash payment, with no proof required.

The final amount of each class member’s payout will depend on the total number of valid claims filed, among other factors.

Finally, all class members can file a claim form to enroll in three years of one-bureau credit monitoring, which includes dark web monitoring, identity theft insurance and access to identity recovery services.

To submit a Healthcare Services Group settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the class member ID found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF claim form to print, fill out, and return by mail to the settlement administrator.

All HCSG settlement claim forms must be submitted online or postmarked no later than October 1, 2026.

The court will determine whether to grant the HCSG settlement final approval following a hearing on September 24, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.

The Healthcare Services Group class action lawsuit alleged that the company, which provides housekeeping, laundry and dining services for long-term care facilities and hospitals, failed to implement reasonable cybersecurity measures to protect its employees’ private information, allegedly leading to a data breach on or around September 27, 2024.

Per court documents, sensitive information that may have been compromised in the breach included names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, state ID numbers, financial account details, full access credentials, and medical and health insurance information.
