Bradberry v. Equifax Information Services LLC
Filed: May 4, 2026 ◆§ 1:22-cv-04754
A $2.2M Equifax settlement offers cash and credit monitoring to consumers whose collection accounts were reported more than once by the agency.
Equifax has agreed to a $2,200,000 settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit that alleged the credit reporting agency wrongfully reported the same collection account more than once on consumers’ Equifax reports, in violation of the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).

The $2.2 million Equifax class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on May 4, 2026. The agreement covers all U.S. consumers identified by Equifax as having been mailed a duplicate reporting letter, including all who received notice of the settlement.
Court documents state that approximately 37,000 people are covered by the class action settlement.
The court-approved website for the Equifax duplicate reporting settlement can be found at DuplicateAccountFCRASettlement.com.
Equifax settlement class members are automatically eligible to receive an access code for six months of Equifax Complete, which includes credit monitoring and coverage for out-of-pocket expenses related to identity theft.
Class members who file a valid, timely claim form can also receive a cash payment up to $600. The amount of each class member’s class payment may vary, depending on the total number of valid claims filed.
To file an Equifax settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the notice ID and PIN listed on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF of the claim form to print, fill out, and return by mail to the settlement administrator.
All Equifax settlement claim forms must be submitted online or by mail by September 1, 2026.
Finally, as part of the class action settlement, Equifax has agreed to avoid reporting the same collection amount more than once on the same Equifax consumer report for six months and remove all duplicate collection accounts from class members’ Equifax files.
The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Equifax class action settlement following a hearing on October 6, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval is granted and any appeals are resolved.
The Equifax class action lawsuit claimed that the credit reporting agency failed to assure the maximum possible accuracy of information in consumer reports when it reported duplicate collection amounts to certain third parties, allegedly in violation of the FCRA.
