$10.9M Torrid Settlement Ends Class Action Lawsuit Over Allegedly Fake Online Discounts

A settlement estimated to be worth at least $10.9 million is expected to resolve a class action lawsuit against Torrid over its alleged use of fake discounts on its website, with customers to receive cash payments and store credit vouchers.

The Torrid settlement received preliminary court approval on June 6, 2025 and covers anyone who, while in the state of California, Washington or Oregon as defined by the billing address provided in their online order, purchased one or more products from Torrid.com between January 1, 2020 and February 18, 2025.

The court-approved website for the Torrid settlement can be found at TorridClassAction.com.

Settlement class members who do not submit a claim form will automatically receive a store voucher worth $15 and valid for a single purchase either on Torrid.com or at a brick-and-mortar Torrid store. The voucher will be sent to the class member’s email address that was most recently used for a Torrid.com purchase.

Class members who would like to receive a $15 cash payment instead of a voucher can fill out and submit a timely, valid claim form.

To submit a form, claimants can visit the settlement website, click on the “Submit Claim” button and log in with the unique Class Member ID found in the settlement notice they should have received via email or mail.

All claims must be submitted no later than August 26, 2025.

There will be a hearing on September 19, 2025 to determine if the settlement will receive final approval from the court. Compensation and vouchers will be dispensed to class members only if final approval is granted.

The Torrid class action lawsuit claimed that Torrid advertised fake sales on its website in order to deceive customers into making purchase decisions. Per the case, Torrid regularly listed prices as discounted from purported reference prices at which the items were never actually sold.
