North Carolina
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Hospital Authority, which does business as Atrium Health, has agreed to a $1,800,000 settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit that alleged the healthcare network surreptitiously embedded into its website tracking pixels that disclosed patients’ private information to third parties without consent.

The $1.8 million Atrium Health class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on May 22, 2026. The agreement covers all United States residents who had a MyAtriumHealth or MyCarolinas patient portal account between January 1, 2015 and April 10, 2024.
The settlement covers two groups of consumers. One includes all class members who accessed or used their patient portal accounts between January 1, 2015 and July 31, 2019 (Group 1), while the other includes all class members who had a patient portal account between January 1, 2015 and April 10, 2024 (Group 2).
The court-approved website for the Atrium Health settlement can be found at AtriumHealthPixelSettlement.com.
Atrium Health settlement class members who file a valid, timely claim form can receive a cash payment from the deal.
Payments to Group 1 settlement class members will be a pro rata share of the $1.5 million fund after the payment of court-approved deductions, whereas Group 2 class members will be eligible to receive up to $10 from the $300,000 portion of the settlement.
Class members who qualify for a Group 1 settlement payment are not eligible to receive a Group 2 settlement payment.
To file an Atrium Health settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and log in using the class member ID listed on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF of the claim form to print, fill out, and return by mail to the settlement administrator.
All Atrium Health settlement claim forms must be submitted online or by mail by September 28, 2026.
The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Atrium Health class action settlement following a hearing on September 30, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval is granted and any appeals are resolved.
The Atrium Health class action lawsuit claimed that the hospital network failed to obtain patients’ consent before using tracking pixels on its website (including, for a limited time, its patient portal) that allegedly shared their personal and health-related information with third parties, such as Meta, for targeted advertising purposes.
