According to the website, Mission Community settlement class members who file a valid, timely claim form can receive up to $5,000 for documented losses stemming from the data breach. Losses covered by this benefit include the cost of credit reports, credit monitoring and fraud resolution services purchased between May 1, 2023 and August 12, 2026, plus expenses like telephone charges, internet usage charges and more.
Class members must submit proof, such as receipts or bank statements, to receive a documented-loss payment.

Class members who were California residents at the time of the data breach are eligible to receive an additional $100 cash payment in recognition of state-specific law.
In addition to any monetary relief, all class members can file a claim to receive an enrollment code for two years of CyEx Medical Shield Complete, which includes one-bureau credit monitoring, identity theft insurance and other services.

The Mission Community Hospital class action lawsuit argued that the California-based hospital failed to implement proper cybersecurity safeguards to protect the sensitive information in its network, which allegedly led to a data breach on or around May 1, 2023.
Per court documents, private information that may have been exposed as a result of the breach included addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account information, health insurance information, insurance claims data and clinical information.
